Record when a User is Added or Removed from a Team

I'd like to be able to record when a User is added to or removed from a Team.  As far as I'm aware, there is no way to trigger a workflow on the Associate/Disassociate step, so I assume it will need a plugin.  Can anyone provide any advice on the necessary coding?

Ideally, I'd like to trigger a workflow on Associate that updates a field on the User record (new_teammemberships) with the Team Name and the date of addition.  On Dissociate, I'd like to trigger a separate workflow that updates a separate field on the User record (new_formerteammemberships) with the Team Name and the date of removal

Any advice on how to accomplish this would be appreciated

    Hi Ryan,

     here is an example:

Just keep in mind you can't register those plugins on a particular entity (unlike update/create/delete), so you'll have to check the relationship name, and, then, do whatever you need to do if it's the right relationship.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for linking this.  As a non-developer who sorta understands code, how would I use this to trigger a workflow?

    Hi,

As I understand you want to update fields on associate and disassociate ..... so I don't think you will need workflow .. you can update your fields in the associate and disassociate plugin only..

and if you want to do with it workflow then you can create any field as a check and on the update of that field you can trigger your workflow..

    Thanks!

    Hi Ryan,

as TNS wrote above, it would probably be easier to just do those updates from the plugin (since you'll have the plugin anyway). Unless there is a reason you do need a workflow..
