Can we enter expiration date only without manufacturing date

The requirement is to have expiration date only when entering batches. In D365 FO, it won't let you have expiration date without a manufacturing date.
We have FEFO Item model group, and it requires to specify "Shelf-life period in days" in Manage inventory fast tab in Release products under PIM module. Let's say we entered 9999 for "Shelf-life period in days" in D365 and business would have to update to supplier expiry date at he the time of receipt. Can business enter expiration date manually when creating a batch instead of resetting the dates after creating them?

Expiration date field is disabled.
I have the same question (0)

Hi, Manufacturing date is basically the date when the stock is added in inventory or when the batch number is created.
Is this question for a purchased item where you want the expiration date to be captured on receiving? Is the batch number created before inventory is received?

    Hi Danny,

This is to bring in finished goods inventory for sales. We don't have the purchasing live in the FO yet. Is it possible to have specific expiration date without manufacturing date when creating a batch?

    Hi,

If you have updated shelf-life period in days you cannot manually select expiration date because shelf-life period in days is used to calculate the expiration date.

So, you are updating the master which directly updates the expiration date, and you are thinking how can I manually update expiration date. (See image 1)

Only way to work with manual expiration dates is to not work with any shelf advise dates, (See image 2)
