Hi Experts,

We have configured a customer self service portal for registering the cases by external users.

We need to give access to the anonymous users so that anyone can access the support page and register the new cases without any login.

I have this screen if I continue without login.

Please let me know how can we achieve this.

Thanks & Regards

Aparna

    Hi Aparna,

The out of box case creation through portal with anonymous user won't be possible and also doesn't make sense. This is because when you open a case, you need to select the customer which could be either the account record or Contact record. If you provide anonymous access, what would be the account & contact anonymous users will select?

In case you want to provide global access for account & contact entity, it would be hard for the end user to select the account & contact. Also, it is not viable solution.

The default portal configuration let the anonymous user to register in the portal and then let the user create the case against his contact as the customer. I guess this is the best you can get.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Dynamics 365 Rocker,

The link you mentioned is to restrict the access but I am not able to create cases without authentication.

I need to create record without login and authentication just by clicking the link of My Support.

    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Ravi,

Thanks for your response. I can understand the points you mentioned. But when the new user registers for the portal, a new contact is created into the CRM. We are trying to configure the portal for the external users and don't want to get no of contacts added into CRM for every time new user registers into the portal.

Can anyone please suggest how in best possible ways this can be achieved.

    Thanks

    Aparna

    Hi,

You cannot use the out of box case entity for this as the customer field is required. Without that you won't be able to create a case. The other alternatives is to use the Lead entity ( i know it's not ideal but for your requirement, this may be the best fit). The lead is already configured, you can just redesign a form so that it looks like you are capturing the case request and not the lead details.

If you are not aware, its the contact us form which appears when you click on contact us link.

    Hope this helps.
