Order-Specific BOM Calculation Missing Costing Version

I'm hoping there is something simple, but I've checked every parameter/setting/blog/docs/forum page that I can think of, but it doesn't seem like I can create a BOM calculation from any order line (sales order or sales quotation at Update line > Calculate > Based on BOM or formula) as I'm getting a "Costing version must be filled in error".This happens in my environment as well as in the USMF Contoso data which makes me think this may be something more than a user error. This page also can't be personalized to even attempt to bring in the field. Has anyone run into this? I haven't attempted this since the AX 2012 days so not sure if I'm missing something new and/or undocumented.

Have you tried to create just a record on the costing version table?

If that table is blank it might be the reason as probably checking that at least a value is in there

Yes, there are two costing versions on the costing version table and I've been able to do bom calculations on the item level, just not from the order specific page as there is no field to even enter the costing version.

is at least  one of them set as "Block" no and "Block Activation" No ?

    ***Updated***

I think what your configuration is trying to do is to find a price using the fallback principle which points to another costing version and the field could be blank.

Yes, I have a planned cost and a standard cost both with block and activation set to no. I've tried all the fall back principles as well with the fall back version specified and I'm still getting the error. I have features auto enabled so everything is also turned on including ECM and Planning optimization. I wouldn't think it would affect the costing version but you never know sometimes.

I did check the code on my environment and the  costing version is not used at all

The last attempt I would try is to delete your usage data and try again.

If this does not work a call to Microsoft or someone else from the forum might support you better :)

Appreciate you taking a look. I'm wondering if this is one of those fall back error messages that is used when it doesn't have anything to do with what is actually going on.

Update: there is a feature called "Ensure required unbound controls are filled in" that essentially breaks this form. Once it was disabled I was able to get the system to actually do this calculation.

That was quite a tricky one.

Thanks for sharing the solution with the community.
