Is SQL RCSI (Read Committed Snapshot Isolation) Supported for Dynamics CRM ?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi Guys,

As a DBA, I have to administrate the SQL instance of our Dynamics CRM.

I see many and many blocked process reports due to long locks, and I would like to enabled the Read Committed Snapshot Isolation on the Dynamics DB to fix them, but i'm not sure it's supported from Dynamics Apps side. Can anybody clarify that bullet please ?

Thx in advance   :)

Fred.M.

Yes, it is supported, see https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/13661.dynamics-crm-2011-quick-optimization-guide.aspx

However, if you're getting a lot of locks, it's worth checking if there are underlying issues with your workflows or plugins that could cause this. From CRM 2013 onwards the data structure changed in a way that reduced the likelihood of one set of deadlocks
