Warehouse release rule ignores "Require full reservation"

While clicking on Release to Warehouse on Sales order or through Automatic Release to Warehouse, D365 F&O is releasing the Order lines with partial quantities, even though it is not fully reserved. Although the setup for "Release rule failure option for auto release is set to "Warning and SKIP Line"

    Good day,

Could you check whether a fulfillment policy is configured? If so, what is the setting for that policy?

    Best regards,

    Hi,
If D365 is still releasing partial quantities despite the "Release rule failure option for auto release" being set to “Warning and Skip line”, a few things to double-check:

Reservation status – Make sure the sales line isn't partially reserved. Even a partial reservation can cause it to release that quantity.
Wave template or release rule setup – Check if there's a wave template or method allowing partial allocation. Some configurations might override the skip behavior.
Line quantity vs. unit conversions – Sometimes rounding issues in unit conversions can trigger partial releases.
Customizations or extensions – If you're using a modified release-to-warehouse process, logic might be altered to allow partials.

If all config seems correct and it's still happening, it might be worth raising a ticket or checking LCS for any known hotfixes around release rule behavior.

    Hope this helps,
    Zain,

Thank you for the response. The fulfilment policy is blank since we are not using the Fulfilment policy for the customer. We want to use the Allow full reservation on the warehouse and sales line should get skipped instead of releasing for the sales order.

Thank you for the response. Please find the responses in line:

    1. Reservation Status - So the scenario is automatic reservation is activated but we don't want the sales order lines to get released, in case there are partial reservation. So, partial reservations will be there. and in the help text on the field it says, that the line will be skipped.

    2. Wave Template - can you please point out, which setup controls the partial or full reservation rule on the wave template?
    3. Line quantity vs UOM conversion - The partial scenario is of quantities like for example Sales order line quantity is 10 and reserved is 5, So, despite conversions, the partial reserved line should not be releaed.
    4. customizations or extensions - No customizations are done for release to warehouse.
