Hi All,
I hope I have this in the right place.
As part of developing our data warehouse product we have developed a suite of views that expose the BC database as a "pseudo dimensional model".
These are free and open source, anyone can have them, and do anything with them.
These are the "freebie give aways" that are necessary to earn some credibility in this marketplace. :-)
We have used the Cronus UK BC 23 demo database for the demo.
Basically the idea is to be able to query the BC on prem database like it is a dimensional model to reduce errors in such queries because of the complexity of joins in BC.
This will help in both AI and BI done from the BC database.
Any tool that can read dimensional models (such as PowerBI) can be used to read these views.
By way of full disclosure, we are promoting Meta5 as a tool to generate excel reports, using these types of views.
You can watch the demo on this link and download the demo databases from the blog post.
We are very interested to see if the BC tech support community are also keen on the idea of "pseudo dimensional views" over BC to make writing queries easier.
We think it's a great idea, and now we are going to find out if others think so too. :-)
Feel free to have your say either way! :-)
Just as a PS.
I see there is a section where companies can post links to their blog entries that may be of interest to BC installed accounts.
But I don't see how we can post there.
Is there some application / authorisation needed?
Are we missing something?
We will be providing a lot of freebies for installed BC accounts to earn our way in this community.
So we would like to be able to bring them to the attention of those who would benefit from using them.
We will give away many valuable freebies to show we know what we are doing, then those who want to talk to us can. :-)
Best Regards
Peter
