problem with workflow emails not sending with a gmail account

Hi

I have a client that we have setup for workflow and email actions but it is not sending them at all. they are using a Gmail account and we have made the changes on the account to allow unsafe programs to email as well as tested we can send and receive emails with the account but no matter what I do it won't send even the test email.

I have setup the workflow setup with use SSL and tried both different ports as advised but still nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as we need to get this working.

    Question

I assume you are pushing the Test e-mail Action button and getting error (we do also, we have g-mail server).  What happens when you send a test e-mail to yourself, do you get an e-mail?  We do.

Also, more bad news coming once you get the ports and permissions working, g-mail itself does not interpret the e-mail the same was IE does so it was quite a chore for us to get the actions to work on other browsers.

    Hi Tim

When I click on the test it doesn't error but it also doesn't send a test email even to my own email address.

The client uses outlook for the mail so that does allow the actions to work as it is being processed in Outlook rather than using the web version of gmail.

I checked with our tech lead, we have the address set to forward this to a mail server we use and that mail server is configured to listen on port 25, see the message, reformat the message (because MSFT does not follow standard) then send.  Describing your issue to him sounded like they might not have configured ports on mail server to receive (25) and send (587).

Sorry, it's just not something controlled in the GP space as much as the mail service space is our thought.
