Item Description from Item Card reflected down to the BOM Components Item Description

Any ideas how to ensure that corrections made to the Item Description on the Item Card will be copied to the Description field in the BOMs?

As you build up the BOM, the description will copy perfectly from the Item Card, but if you change text on the Item Card afterwards, descriptions on the BOM Will remain unchanged.

    Hecht,

Adding to other replies... This has come up many a time to take the updated Item Description and then update all the Certified BOM's with the new Description. We have created a Job Queue to update the BOM's overnight with name changes. It is not hard, but you should ask your Partner to assist.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hello,

Of course, if there is functionality you think is needed in standard, feel free to raise it via https://aka.ms/bcideas .

    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply,

The ability to change BOM text independent of the text entered on the Item Card is clearly an advantage in a lot of organizations. For us it can get a bit confusing and time consuming to maintain synchronized texting.

Handling the updates through a separate job queue and even in real-time would be nice.

Do you think this could be an idea to share for future funktionality?

    Best regards,

    Carsten Hecht

    Thanks for your answer.

I assume that with “open and use” you mean making a new Assembly Order.

For some reason - maybe because of customization – we only get “Description 2” and not “Description” updated to the new Assembly Order.

No update is made to the “original” BOM. This a problem for us, as we use the BOM text for external documents. As we perfect product descriptions, it would be nice to avoid repeating text changes on a lot of BOMs.

    Best regards,

    Carsten Hecht

    Hi,

If you open and use BOM structure then it is updated with the update in Item card.

    Hello,

This seems only to be possible via customizatons.

    Thanks.
