Properties & Suggestions not appearing on Quote and Opportunity

Hello,

When setting up an Opportunity or Quote in CRM 2015 (on-premise) the edit button for Product Properties or the Suggestion button for related products are not appearing. The column is visible in the subgrid but the column remains blank.

I've set up a brand new product family, added properties and then added a brand new product to the Family. The product has inherited the properties from the product family as expected. Both the family record and the product record are Active. I've also added an existing product as an up-sell against the new product.

However, when I add the product to an opportunity or a quote, the link to edit the properties or to view suggestions are not appearing in the subgrid. The column is blank and clicking on the blank space only opens the Opportunity/Quote product record. The other 'in-line' edit functions on quantity and discount work as normal.

I'm a system administrator for our CRM system so I don't think it can be a privileges issue.

I'm using IE 11, but have also tested it in Chrome (52.0) with the same result.

I notice on the Product Property the "Base Property" value is blank, I don't know if this is normal?

Other than that I'm not sure what I am missing? Is this a known issue fixed by a roll up or have I missed a step out?

Thanks for your time,

Gareth

    Hello again,

I've found the solution to my above issue and thought I should share it incase anyone else suffers from the same issue.

It looks like, probably due to some changes to the Quote and Opportunity records made on CRM 2013, that the forms I was using weren't properly updated during the upgrade process.

I did try removing and re-adding the subgrid on each form but this didn't fix the issue.

However, when I create a new form from scratch the subgrid work as expected allowing properties and suggestions to be added. So I've created new forms for both the entities, edited them to look like the old forms I had and set them to the new default form views.

Hope this helps with anyone with a similar issue,

    Kind Regards

    Gareth

I am facing the same issue.  you have mentioned, "I create a new form from scratch the subgrid work as expected allowing properties and suggestions to be added". Please tell me how to create a form from scratch. i tried creating new form and added feilds, grid bt didn't help me. Please answer

    Hello Yashaswini,

After studying the issue some more I realized that for the properties to work CRM includes an invisible section called "dynamicproperties" and "dynamic suggestions" that are locked on the form. However, they are not created when you create a subgrid. These sections also have an uneditable field (can't even open the properties for it) which I assume stores in the information.

When I created a new form, CRM automatically included these section/fields for me. (this worked for the quote form, but not the opportunity form in my live, though it worked for both in test).

If creating a new form didn't help, then I would check to see if you have any inactive opportunity forms in the original layout. You'll notice that CRM copies your main form when you create a new one, so try reactivating an old form, setting that to be the main form and then creating a new one.

Once I get my opportunities to work, I'll let you know how I accomplished it, but I'll be trying what I've suggested above.

Thanks a ton, it resolved opportunity issue. there was only 1 opportunity form and it was not working. so i created a new organization, exported opportunity entity. took  "dynamicproperties" and "dynamic suggestions"  sections form the form XML. exported existing organization's Opportunity XML and added theese 2 sections, Imported back. worked like a charm :D

I ran into the same problem and resolved by using the solution provided above.  However, now I do not have the option to add products on the Quote form via the drop down arrow by the quote name.  The only options presented are Documents, Connections, Audit History, Background Processes and Real-time Processes.  Is there a way to include Products in the list of available options?

    Hi Barbara,

You should be able to add the Products Sub menu back onto your form by going into the Form Editor, and editing the 'navigation' options (left hand side of the screen). This allows you to drag any of the related entities into the navigation menu, one of which should be products.

Save, publish and then refresh your quote page and the new sub menu's you've added should be visible when you click the little arrow.

    Hope that helps,

    Gareth
