Hi, just adding others' reply.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/inventory-about-item-types
The following table lists the features that the three item types support.
Item Type | Sales | Purchasing | Job Consumption | Service Consumption | Assembly Consumption | Production Consumption | Assembly Output | Production Output | Location Transfer | Physical Counting | Inventory Revaluation | Inventory Costing | Item Tracking | Reservation | Warehousing | Planning |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Inventory | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Non-Inventory | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No |
Service | Yes | Yes | Yes | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No | No |
You can use non-inventory type item. Just remember that you will lost the ability to track this item inventory and costing properly.
Andre,
Items can be setup with different Types, they are:
Inventory - physical inventory that will be counted
Service - Labor or some Service related item
Non-Inventory - physical inventory that is NOT counted
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Steve
Items have a field called “Type”. Find that field on an item you have not used or create a new item. Three choices: inventory, service or non inventory.
You can setup items as non-inventory which means that no quantity on hand is tracked.
where exactly do I have to make this setting?
Thank you !
You can setup items as non-inventory which means that no quantity on hand is tracked.
If you are referring to physical inventory, you would either have to filter it out (<>itemnumber) or delete it from physical inventory journal.
