Dear expert

I have setup safety quantity in a new item master.

and input 1000 in safety stock quantity with purchasing replenishment method.

Then run calculate regenerative plan in planning worksheet, cannot find any PO proposal.

Appreciate if any experts can give hints how to make these safety stock demand happen in planning worksheet

Many thanks

Best regards,

Check location mandatory setting on inventory setup. If it's enabled then SKU level

    Thanks for you hints, Ben

I have tested that if I don't setup stockeepting unit, only input safety stock qty of item master, it's not work in planning worksheet. and if I setup stockkeeping unit,  safety stock qty demand included in planning worksheet.

It seems stockkeeping unit master is a must for use of safety stock qty if I have multiple location.

    Best regards,

    Marco

Generally, if you know there is a need (Quantity on Hand is lower than 1000 and Safety Stock is 1000), the reason you are not getting a suggestion is the Reordering Policy on the Item is not set.  If using multiple Locations, you would want to check the SKU for the Location.  If you aren't using Stockkeeping Units (SKUs) and you have multiple Locations, you need to start using SKUs.  It will help the system process data better, as well as giving more flexibility to your planning.

P.S. I would encourage you to work with your partner's inventory/planning consultant.  While Safety Stock has its place, you want to be sure you're using it properly.  If you are in a Stock replenishment policy it should be built into your Reorder Point and not kept separate.
