Postman to F&O "authentication failed"

Hi guys,

when trying to test run my custom service from Postman, I get error response "Please verify user id is valid and setup correctly". Then I tried to create new user in F&O, same email id as the one I'm using in Postman (although it is Gmail account) then I got this new error:

May I know what is the procedure here? or is there minimum role / authorization I should add to this new user?

    You didn't mention which kind of authentication you're trying to use and whether you did the necessary setup (e.g. the app registration in Azure Active Directory).

    Also, where did you get "Please verify user id is valid and setup correctly"? Your screenshot shows something else.

    Note that if you want to use username/password for authentication, the user ID must be an AAD account, not just any e-mail address.

    I didn't put the screenshot of the 1st error ("Please verify user id is valid and setup correctly") because it is already passed (changed) after I create new user in F&O, so I cannot get it anymore.

    That's why I mentioned "I got this new error...." hence the screenshot is refer to the part after. However the place of the error message is same, it is in Postman response body.

    But it looks that your hint that I must use AAD account might be the problem here, so in that case Postman login should use the same user id that I'm using when login to F&O?

    After changing my Postman login to use the same user id as my F&O (it's an Admin user), apparently the error still persists, even strangely it falls back to the 1st message.

    Here is the screenshot:

    For the Authentication, I'm not sure what to inform, but for App registration I already setup that, as I also already succeeded to run Postman for Get Access Token. And for information all of this are running using Downloadable VHD from LCS.

    If it is referring to Authentication in the Header info of my Postman request, is like this:

    So, it is just a copy paste the "access_token" from Get Access Token request, and put in the value of Authorization with first word is "Bearer " (at least this is what I got from some resources / blog about how to assign the token, hope it is correct)

    Hi,

    In Access token request, you would have mentioned a CLIENT ID. This has to be set up in FO as well. Go to System Administration -> Set up -> Azure active directory.

    Please give us more information. It's almost impossible to guess what's wrong if you tell us only you're somehow request a token and that you registered something in AAD. We need more details. First of all, are you trying to authenticate by username/password or app id/client secret?

    What exactly did you do in AAD? How are you requesting the token?

    Hi,

    Finally made it. Thanks to your blog, Anita. So, the problem not only because I didn't add the Client ID in System Administration > Setup > AAD applications, also the way I put the Authorization. Refer to your blog I should put in Tab Authorization

    But before this, I'm put the Authorization as a key in Tab Header as my previous reply. And the Authorization was by default is "Inherit by auth from parent". I guess this is the problem.

    Anyway, I come to notice this Access Token is change over time, is it correct? Since I run yesterday and what I ran again today is different. If it is true, may I know how to handle this? Some blog told me to set as variable, like what I'm asking at the very first topic that I have error with it.

    I am very sorry also for not giving the "right" information but to be honest I also not sure what should I give. Based on the Get Access Token request (which it is succeeded already) I thought it is the only way since all blog specified that we have to specify client_id, client_seecret, tenant_id, etc. which mean App register F&O in Azure already setup.

    Yes, authorization tokens have a limited lifetime. Then you need to request a new token.
