How can you have both Dollars or whole numbers and percent in same column in Management Reporter

Posted on by 2,510

I have a client who needs to present both Dollars and Percentage in the same column in MR.

They have a calculation that shows price per gallon on one row and another that would show Gross profit margin for a specific product line.   We have tried creating to non-printing rows and using a Calulated row to put the appropriate results in specific columns but it does not carry the format override.

The calculated row won't use the format from the non-printing rows.  If the non-printing rows were formatted with the currency format, the calculation that uses those rows won't show with the currency format.  You'd need to add a format to the calculated row.

In this example, rows 100 and 130 use the currency format.  Row 190 adds them together and does not have a format override.

When the report prints, the calculation row does not display with a format mask.  Row 250, which has a format override, does display with the percentage format.  If you add the currency format to row 190, it will show in that format.

There is no formatting in the column   There is a calculated field where amounts are pulled from NP rows where there could be different override formats.  It is not pulling the correct format based on the non printing row.

    Hi Brenda,

You could get both dollars and percentages in the same column.  You'd need to make sure that the column has no formatting to it.  Then in the row definition, add a format override to the row.  As long as the column has no format override on it, the formatting from the row will be used.  Column formats will override rows, so if there is any formatting to the column, this won't work.
