Dynamics 365 FetchXML Report PreFiltering and Data Management

Hi,

I am trying to create a FetchXML report connecting to Dynamics 365 CRM instance and I have enabled prefiltering on a custom entity. My report requirement demands displaying data from both custom entity and related 1:N entity. I have created two datasets and when I run the report, I could see the related entity data displaying correctly but the other dataset data is displayed blank. I am using textbox as I need to concatenate dynamic data from the dataset plus static text.

Example below on how I want to display text.

«Expr» «Expr» Report for «Expr»

    Hi Devi,

Are you using outer or inner join in the fetchxml?

Dataset 1 uses inner join and the other dataset is a direct fetchxml query to another entity.  My issue is with dataset1 where the object i inserted in textbox never displays value

Are you able to retrieve data using the FetchXML in FetchXMLBuilder tool? Can you provide and an alias for those fields and check if it works.

I did provide an alias, however it doesn't seem to work. Attached is the dataset (hiding the fields)  and the report design for your reference so you can review and let me know what is going wrong.reportissue1.pngreportissue.png

I am still not able to fix the issue. FetchXML builder returns result. My issue is with prefiltering. In report designer, I couldn't preview the records as I couldn't set the prefilter value in the designer. And uploading the report to CRM also doesn't retrieve any result. Whereas when I click on Edit Filter, I see the value for the record populated correctly. So, my issue is with the designer where I am not sure how to provide expression in text box so the value gets populated correctly

Here is an article for your reference.

    https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/dynamics365/no-audience/2011/02/23/fetch-xml-based-reports-bits-pieces/

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/dynamicscrm-2016/reporting-analytics-dynamics-365/dn531099(v=crm.8)?redirectedfrom=MSDN

Basically specify an “enableprefiltering” attribute in the entity node of your fetch query. Also need to add Query and Report parameter.

    Hope this helps
