Cannot configure reporting services "Fetch" source: "Organization With Name = ... Does Not Exist"

ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi. I am trying to run a standard report created by the report wizard in CRM 2015 on-premise (no rollups). In the front-end, the report fails with a standard message: "Cannot show report. (rsProcessingAborted)"

(My CRM front-end is in Danish, so the above is my translation, not the exact text.)

In the trace files from the CRM Diagnostics Tool I can see the following:

Crm Exception: Message: An error occurred during report rendering. ReportId:[guid], ErrorCode: -2147187924, InnerException: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
---> Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: Cannot create a connection to data source 'CRM'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
---> Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException:
Microsoft.Crm.CrmConfigObjectNotFoundException: Organization With Id = [guid] Does Not Exist
---> Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportServerException: Organization With Id = [guid] Does Not Exist

Now I am trying to configure the data sources for reporting services. I do this:

  1.  Remote desktop to the report server.
  2. Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager and connect.
  3. Go to Report Manager URL.
  4. Click the URL to open it in a browser.
  5. Select organization.
  6. Click Details View.
  7. Click the data source.

I notice that the data source "MSCRM_FetchDataSource" fails. When I click "Test Connection" on it, I get:

Microsoft.Crm.CrmConfigObjectNotFoundException: Organization With Name = [name] Does Not Exist

The configuration page looks like the attached screenshot. Does anyone know how that configuration page is supposed to look?

Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.

I never specified a data source; I merely used the standard report wizard.

When I go to the Reporting Services web interface and Manage my report, it says that it is using the MSCRM_FetchDataSource, which is the same one that is failing above because it can't find the organization.

Update: I tried to fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling the SRS Data Connector (aka CRM Reporting Extensions). This had no effect. :(

    Hi Claus,

I had some issue in the past caused by the fact i was using VPN and had some issues with authentication etc. Have you tried to log into the machine and run the report locally?

Last case scenario build the report again or download and open with visual studio* and check the DataSource if is using the right connection string.

*To do this you will need BIDS installed

RE: Cannot configure reporting services "Fetch" source: "Organization With Name = ... Does Not Exist"

Update: It turns out that my Organization table (in the MSCRM_Config database) is corrupt. It does not point to the organizations that actually exist. This must be an artifact of a database restore that went horribly wrong.

We will try to re-restore the organization databases or reinstall CRM. This won't be right now, though.

    Thanks for the replies.
