Hi

I want to ask about the affect of choosing to remove the discontinoud items in the IV Year End Closing  is this will remove all the item transactions history or just the item card and if it will remove the item card what will happened if will try to re-open this item card again .

Thanks

Several years ago, we used the discontinued items function during year end close.  We have choosen not to do it anymore.  The system removes the item at the card level and I think from all inventory tables.  We are not be able to do inquiries at the inventory level within GP on any items removed.  I may be wrong, but I think the only way we can query those removed items is now through SOP.  We are able to run Crystal queries against those item numbers based on SOP transactions.  But, we cannot see them in Analysis Cubes (not sure if that is a function of how AC was built or a function of the item number no longer existing in the inventory tables or both).  We use lot number tracking and by removing the discontinued item, we have lost all lot number information now.

    Best regards, Dale

Removing Discontinued Items will remove all transaction history as well as the item itself.  As Dales states, you would still have access to some activity through SOP and POP queries but it would be limited.  Unless you're absolutely sure you'll never need to refer to item history, I would not select this option during YE close.

You would be able to re-use the item number.

    Hope this helps,
