Hi Experts,

For each customer, I create a project where I can follow time I used to complete task,

Unfortunately, job /project cannot be part of sales line, nor as item.

Then, to formalise a sales lines, and an item, I used service type.So know you can easely guess that I'm having a missing link between service item and the related project.

Is there any experts that can help me to understand how to link a service item (available in BC with Essential licence type) with a project ?

Thank you in advance for any help.

    HI MahGah,

Sorry for my late reply, and thank you.

I got some training in the code and Im' thinking in only create a simple table relation between sales order and the related job.

But Im sure that it will not be enough to take in account the entire business central logics, I mean Financials.

In my sandbox, i created G/L accounts that represent an accounting line, and this is what we sell to customer. A quantity of Accounting lines, and Im able to store that quantity into Job Ldger entry, for the related job.

But Im still stuck in how to create a valid link.

Does I have to creae a new thread for that ?

Yes you are right, this does not work in my case.

My need is a kind of PSA. there are exising App for that, but I do not want to use it. my query is simple, as you told :

create an item service that can be included in an opportunity, in sales order, and use it as a starting point of a job.

this need a link between item service and job.

I may need a specific app for that.

    thank you MahGah :)

Thnak you for your quick reply, unfortunately this does not do my business.

I should clarify some points :

Im working in a bookeeper agency, and we sell micro projects, that are quite all the sames. It is the same service.

I need then, from CRM point of view to work with opportunities, to attach a sales quotes, and from this sales quotes where we will find the service item.

When accepted by customer, crating the sales order that will create the project to follow time resource with job planning lines (only budget)

so the item, as a service, having hours as unit, is really project centric.

ideally, we would add this service into project line, unfortunately, i think that there is no possiblity to attach a ressource to an item line in project management...

Im currently having Business Central Essential. Project Operation was ideally my choice, but I read that it is not exactly an erp, and we would not use all the extended capacity of this excellent software, as we work with micro project (one year max, only one ressource, and anly few task by month rarely having more than 5/10 hours for months)

Hope this clarify a little bit more my query.

Thank you one more time for your reply.

    Hi

My assumption is that you do not want to invoice the job directly like this video: usedynamics.com/.../  you want to create Sales Order then invoice the sales order.

One company that I worked for used to be creating service item first then instead of Job they used Service section of them item to capture materials and resource then they invoiced the it (they pretend they are repairing or servicing that item). But that could not work in your case.

I don't think you need to use Item (Type: Service) to accomplish your goal.  Jobs has the ability to create the Sales document by using a "Billable" Job Planning Line.

When you are entering the Planning Lines for a given Job Task, there is a Line Type field.  Budget is used for estimating lines, and Billable is used for lines you plan to invoice.  In some cases you may bill for exactly what you estimated, to which you can use the Both option.

While viewing the Job Planning Lines for a Job, highlight the "Billable" Planning Lines, go to your Action Ribbon and select Create Sales Invoice.  There is a second button you can click to View the Sales Invoice(s) related to a Job.

See if this allows you to connect your Jobs to the billing activities without the use of Items (Type: Service).

I'm sure your partner can help you out with more information about this process.
