whoever, I think you are not in the correct SP sequence, GP 2010 it only has up to SP2 which is called as well R2, GP 10 has SP 1 thru 5.

Can you verify which language setting you have on registry for your installation of office, usually is code 1033.

Then I will suggest you go to www.sysinternals.com download a copy of Process Monitor, and trace disk and registry activity before exporting the smartlist, and read thru the logs and see if you have a permissions issue or something that will lead you to the solution.

GP 2010 SP1 then SP2 then SP3 now SP4, Windows 7 ultimate full admin, loggin in as sa into either SQL 2008 R2 or SQL 2005 SP3 as the backend.  Application works, the issue is that all smartlists fail with the Cannot Start Excel issue <argh> when trying to export.  Using excel 2010 with excel open or closed.

    Hi Victoria,

I understand, I answered pretty quick since my  phone was ringing.

Not so sure that it is the OS since GP is running, but it could be.  I have seen stranger things.

William, I would see about upgrading the Office 2010 to a fully licensed version.

Perry, I was actually talking about the OS edition, not Office, but it's possible that one or both are the issue...or the two together.  Looks like they are both Starter from what William is saying.

    Victoria,

There is an Office 2010 Starter edition.  It is an OEM version of the product that is ad supported.  That may be the issue.  GP may see it as a non supported version.

    William,

I wonder if the issue might actually be Windows 7 Starter?  (I am guessing that's what you meant by 'Start'?)  My understanding is that has limited functionality and while not explicitly stated on the requirements page for GP 10.0, I believe the only 'supported' editions are Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate.

Yes, it does it with word as well.

    Doug,

I have not seen that issue yet.  Does Smartlist do the same thing with Word?

William, Has the user been able to open Excel from the Start Menu? I am not sure what the Office 2010 STARTER edition has, I will take a look at it when I have time. Perry

Many thanks for your reply, Perry.

Yes, this is the newly purchased workstation. This is the first computer that is come with Microsoft Office 2010 version, the rest are still using Office 2007. And this new computer has never been successfully launched Excel from the Smartlist.

We are wondering if the Office 2010 STARTER edition can work work with Dynamics GP 10 with FP1 SP4.

     Please advice and many thanks.
