Sitemap Editor XSD validation error

Posted on by 491

In the Dynamics CRM Sitemap editor I receive a XSD validation error: "Sitemap xml failed XSD validation with the following error: 'The element 'SiteMap' has invalid child element 'parsererror' in namespace 'http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml'. List of possible elements expected: 'Area'.' at line 1 position 39."

What I tried to solve this:

  • Remove '&' characters in URL's
  • Export the solution and check the Sitemap XSD by hand

I can't figure out why the error occurs. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot,
Elowy.

The error seemed to be in the translations of the Voice of the Customer group definition in the area Settings. I deleted the translations except my own language, that solved the problem.

What I did to find out the problem:

    • Make a solution with the SiteMap
    • Export the solution unmanaged
    • Edit SiteMap and delete area by area until you can save. That is the area with the problem
    • Import the solution again and repeat these steps with areas and items

RE: Sitemap Editor XSD validation error

I just created a new 30-day trial with "All apps" selected (Sales, Customer Service, Field Service, Project Service Automation, and "Custom"). The "Custom" app has all SiteMap Areas from the other apps. I was trying to add a new Area to the "Custom" app when I encountered this issue. The only Google results were this thread and one on StackOverflow (stackoverflow.com/.../43498465).

I initially followed the same steps you did, but the specific mention of "Field Service" in one of the responses in the SO thread made me wonder. I opened up the SiteMap for the "Field Service" app, moved one area, clicked "Save", and encountered the error again. I went back to the "Custom" app SiteMap and deleted the "Field Service" area...the SiteMap saved without error.

I'm not sure what the actual fix is, but I think we can pinpoint the particular Area that's causing the issue.

Note: If anyone is going to try this, always save a backup of your current SiteMap XML!

    Hi Gopalan,

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately there are no & (or other special) characters in the URL's. To be sure I exported the solution and checked all the Url tags in the Customizations.xml.

Do you have another suggestion? Or do you now how to check the XML to the XSD by hand? I found the SiteMap.xsd in the development kit, but where not able to find how I can map the Xml with this Xsd.

    Thanks,
    Elowy.
