Product Properties in Word template

Is it possible to get Product Properties on to the new Word Templates in CRM Online 2016?

I can get all fields from Opportunity Product or Quote Product, but the Product Properties are kept somewhere else it seems. Which relationship needs to be included to get to the Product Properties?

I would like to make a Word template for Quote, where Quote Products + their Product Properties are included.

RE: Product Properties in Word template

After investigation i found a solution and here is the guided steps :

1- I create custom fields for each properties in quotedetails entity.

2- I create a Flow that is triggered when i chose a values for properties by connecting to dynamicpropertyinstance entity to get the value of each ones

3- In the same Flow i connect to dynamicproperty to map the values with the name of the properties and to get also the related quotedetails id and the product id.

4- Update the quotedeatils with values of properties.

5- Download the template of the quote entity and will find the custom fields created above.

With these steps you can generate a quote that contains properties of product.

Marianne,  Did you ever manage to get this working?  We are running Dynamics 365 9.1

Hi Mayara. You are correct that the info about the quote details are in that section - but the meta data in the Product Properties are not there.

The product properties are defined in the product family and inherited down to a product.

I am again with a client who are trying to use the Product properties - and like last time - I can get it in CRM - but I can't get it out. Not on templates, the webshop, reports or in conditions.

When you download the template with all relations, the info about the products in that quote is in the quote_detail section on Mapping XML tab.
For instance, if you make a field called property1 in the Opportunity Product Entity, you can then pull the product's property to that field.  This will then be available.
I stumbled upon your post. How exactly do you populate the newly created field? When I try to use a calculated field I can not access the product's property.

I guess I'll have to go the same way.

This is something really frustrating since a feature like this should be at the very core of the Requirements Log for Dynamics 365 or any other version. What are they thinking by not enabling this feature?! Anyway, thanks for the tip of XPerido ;)

I am struggling exactly with the same issue. Did you ever found out the solution for this?

RE: Product Properties in Word template

I have had a similar problem with multi-level nesting.  The OOTB way around this is to create additional fields in the higher level of the hierarchy and then pull the values up.  You can then reference them in the two layer hierarchy of the template process.

For instance, if you make a field called property1 in the Opportunity Product Entity, you can then pull the product's property to that field.  This will then be available.

It does get it bit complicated when you then have to permeate this through to quote, then to order, so keep the transfers as simple and as elegant as you can.
