CRM 2011 Online for Outlook Addin will not successfully initialize

(0) ShareShare

I have had CRM 2011 Online for Outlook Addin working great for a couple of months and it stopped working for some reason I do not understand.  I have read every blog and posting I can find and have worked my way through them all; a very time consuming process.  Includes uninstalling, getting rid of all traces of the Addin in the registry and subdirectories, creating another windows user and installing for that user, etc....None of it has helped.  Still get the same message first presented in the Windows Application Event Viewer, which is:

Source: MSCRMAddin
EventID: 5975
Level: Error

An error occurred initializing a process that triggers Microsoft CRM actions based on Outlook events. Some synchronization or tagging actions may not occur. Try restarting Microsoft Outlook. HR=0x8002801d. Context=. Function=CAddin::OnEnabled. Line=1144.

This seems completely rediculous.  Is there really any way to fix this without completely re-configuring the whole laptop?

Will appreciate your help.

Steve

    Hi Steve Pearl

My name is Andrés Guzmán, I'm glad to help you.

I think this issue can occur for many things, something like this:

    - Related with the Windows User

    - Related with the Office

    - Related with the CRM for Outlook

    - Related with some update (Rollup)

And, I think, the recommendation to make an re-installation to begin in your CRM for Outlook making first of all a full uninstalling would be the best for now.

To do this, maybe you can follow the next link: dynamics-crm2011.blogspot.com/.../full-uninstall-of-microsoft-crm-outlook.html (Apply the same for client of CRM 2011)

    Have a great day,

I uninstalled per the link steps and then reinstalled.  I get the same error message after reinstalling.  During the reinstall, i did notice in the Windows Application Event Log 3 MSCRMTracing Source Error events, Event ID 17204 with this general detail

    Hi Steve, good morning

Do you found any error in the Installation Log located in the next path:

    %Userprofile% \Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs

The log file is usually named something like Crm50ClientConfig.log

Can you share with us this information?

Additional to this, occasionally i applied the following recommendation for a Customer and it worked great, maybe you could try:

    edwardsdna.wordpress.com/.../crm-outlook-installation-issue

Specifically for your Event ID error (17204) the recommendations are follow the next steps:

    1. Add the following sites in Trusted Sites of Internet Explorer: Internet Options > Security > Trusted sites > Sites:

    2. Clean IE cache.

    3. Clean temp files (using the environment variable %temp%).

    4. Delete Generic Credential

     a. In Run, type “control keymgr.dll”.

     b. Go to Generic Credential, hits on menu drop down, so 'Remove from vault'.

     c. Repeat steps a. e b. for all generic credentials.

    5. Reinstall Windows Live Essentials 2011 (www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx)

    6. Reinstall Windows Live Sign-in Assistant (www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx).

    7. Reinstall Assistente de Conexão do Microsoft Online Services (www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx)

    8. Check synchronization of date, time and timezone of workstation and Domain Controler of Active Directory.

     a. If are in disagreement, apply the following command on command prompt: net time /set

    9. Remove Dyncamis CRM for Outlook and updates, in Program and Features.

    10. Delete the folder MSCRM of C:\Users\<username>\AppData\local\Microsoft\MSCRM.

    11. Enter on registry and then delete, if exists, the folders MSCRM/MSCRMClient of:

     a. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft

     b. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sofware\Microsoft

     c. HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft

    12. Install again the Dynamics CRM for Outlook and updates:

     a. www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx (Installer)

     b. www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx (UR5)

    13. Make new attempt of configuration of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook.

Regards and have a great day,

    Hi Steve, good morning,

    Thanks for share your informtion.

I could see the next line in your log:

Error connecting to URL: disco.crm.dynamics.com/.../Discovery.svc Exception: Microsoft.Crm.CrmException: Logon failed because credentials are invalid

I want to know if you can Access to the next URL's:

    - disco.crm.dynamics.com/.../Discovery.svc

    - dev.crm.dynamics.com/.../Discovery.svc

    - evolvit1.crm.dynamics.com/.../Discovery.svc

Really, i think you need to reinstall with the recommendations shared before.

Please let me know the results with that steps.

    Regards,

I went through the uninstall and reinstall steps and still the same result.  there appeared to be no issues during install or configuration, however there are errors in the Crm50ClientConfig.log, outlook freezes if I click the sign in when viewing a CRM object, etc.....

I'm not sure how I would know if I am successfully connecting to the svc urls above.  Please let me know.  I am able to log into CRM through IE 9 with no problems.

    Best Regards,

    Steve

Did you ever find a resolution to this?  We are having the exact same issue with one user.

Please check if your Windows Identity Foundation 3.5 is turned on:

These steps might help you, I've encountered the same issue and I do the following steps:

    1. Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on and off

    2. Please check  the .Net Framework 3.5 and Windows Identity Foundation 3.5

    3. try Connecting it again.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion Louis.  What fixed this a while back was upgrading Outlook 2010 to Outlook 2013 beta and now RTM.  After the upgrade to 2013 there have been no issues what-so-ever.
