When you export the invoice, use the “Share” option and look for “Copy to Excel” or “Open in Excel” in the share sheet.

I tried the following "Open In Excel" action and saved the file to a location that Excel can open. It opened without any problems.
I suggest you try updating Excel first.

    Thanks

It’s not an issue with Business Central itself it’s more to do with iOS file associations. When you export, iOS decides which apps can open the file type. If Excel doesn’t show up, usually reinstalling the Excel app and making sure it’s updated fixes it. Also, try saving the file first (to Files app) and then opening with Excel from there.

    Hi,

This isn’t a Business Central issue—it’s an iOS file association problem as mentioned by Sohail. The Excel app is still available on iOS, but your device likely lost the default association for .xlsx files.

     How to fix

    1. Update Microsoft Excel from the App Store.
    2. After installing, open the exported file from the Files app → tap Share → choose Open in Excel (or Copy to Excel).
    3. If Excel doesn’t appear:
      • Tap More… in the share sheet and enable Excel.
      • Or long-press the file → ShareOpen in Excel to set preference.

Mark the Boolean true “Does this answer your Question” if this was Helpful.

It’s not a BC issue, it’s iOS. The file still exports as .xlsx, but iOS isn’t showing Excel as an option anymore.

    • Make sure Excel is installed and updated.

    • When exporting, use Share → More… and enable Excel.

    • If it still doesn’t show, save the file to the Files app and then open it in Excel from there.

    Thanks Guys for all suggestions.
I tried it all but still not working.

Exported file has .json extension and when I open it these text is in the file.
    {"StatusCode":"NotFound","StatusMessage":"Non-tenant specific requests should have an environment type specified."}

I haven’t noticed which extension was before but excel always shows as an option to open the file.

I did some changes with a developer in BC code but not sure when exactly these start to happen.

I think you can uninstall the third-party extension and try again.

    Thanks.

It’s iOS not recognizing Excel as the default app. Reinstall/update Excel and reassign it when opening the file.
