Item Card - Managing Unit of Measure

Hello,

I have set up the unit of measure, variance code, item cross reference below with a hope that when I sell the item in pack, or in pallet the item description on the sales order line item is dynamically changed to "Ex-Books in Pack" or "Ex-Books in Pallet" accordingly.  I have below setup but am not sure why the description on the sales order line is not dynamically changed as expected.  Did I missed anything? thank you.

Description is only taken from the main item. If you want it updating from the variant you would need to subscribe to the event OnValidateVariantCodeOnAfterChecks from the sales line table. You can use a codeunit to do this. If you setup a item references (legacy version being item cross references from April 2021) you can enter those on the sales line instead of the regular number and it will know you mean the variant and pull the description you want with no modification.
