Master Data Sync not working for Custom Report Selection

ReportReport

Hi all,

I'm working with the Master Data Synchronisation feature in Business Central (v26), and running into issues when syncing data into the Custom Report Selection table (ID 9657).

The error I'm consistently receiving is:

"The record in table Custom Report Selection already exists. Identification fields and values: Source Type='18', Source No.='C-01009', Usage='Sales Invoice', Sequence='3'"

I’ve confirmed that the record already exists in the target environment, so I understand the sync is attempting an insert rather than an update.

(Basically we updated an email address for a customer in the main company, and want it to update the sister company)

What I've tried so far:

  • Verified that the key fields (Source Type, Source No., Usage, Sequence) are included in the field mapping.

  • Set “Validate Field” = Yes for Source Type and Source No.

  • Enabled “Overwrite Local Change” for email-related fields like Send To Email and Email Body Layout Code

  • Confirmed source data matches the key values exactly

  • Not using any custom coupling logic (just field-based matching)

Despite this, the sync still fails with the same insert error.

Questions:

  1. Is Custom Report Selection even compatible with Master Data Sync for updating existing entries, or is it insert-only?

  2. Has anyone successfully configured a sync that updates email-related fields for report selection?

  3. Is there a way to force an “upsert” behaviour (update if exists, insert if not) in this sync context?

  4. Any tips for working around this — e.g., using staging tables, Power Automate, or extending the sync logic?

Any insight or examples would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You can use the Overwrite Local Change checkbox on the fields and tables you synchronize to allow data from the source company to overwrite data in the subsidiary company.

Have you tried the following function first?

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hi ZHU,

Thank you for the help, but now i'm getting "Unchanged" error. Not failing which is good, but neither is it Modifying.
