Cannot Connect Power BI Finance & Business Central

I have a Power BI Premium License and a production Business Central environment I'd like to connect to.

I've connected the Business Central Inventory App but the Finance App will only show demo data.

Here are my apps in Power BI:

I can connect to the data in Power BI for Desktop:

I believe I'm entering this correctly:

It authenticates, then say this for a while:

Then this:

Any ideas?

Hi,

You need to complete the setups in the Power BI Finance App in order for the data to sync correctly, it will keep on giving error until those setups are completed.

This setup is given in Power BI Connector Setup in the Finance Report section.

It's funny, you all pointed to the guide I posted that I was going through. I feel a little silly as I should have worked it out before posting but maybe this will help someone else.

The email I got when the nightly refresh happened had more data and that helped:

An error occurred while processing the data in the semantic model.

Refresh failed:

Finance app has failed to refresh.
Failure details: The last refresh attempt failed because of an internal service error. This is usually a transient issue. If you try again later and still see this message, contact support.
<ccon>[Unable to combine data] Section1/G\/L Entries/Combine Queries references other queries or steps, so it may not directly access a data source. Please rebuild this data combination.</ccon>. The exception was raised by the IDbCommand interface. Table: G/L Entries.
Next refresh for Finance app is scheduled for September 7, 2025 7:00 UTC.

The guide specifically mentioned this error and offers a fix and it worked:

The answer was to change the privacy setting to "Organization" and voila, I have data! WOOHOO!
