Importing Projects getting error 0X80040217 - culprit believed to be Class ID

Using Dynamics 365 v8.2

Importing a file of Projects.  One of the Required fields is "Class ID", which I believe is a member of Projects -> Work Hour Templates.  I used the "Default Work Template."  Each of the 378 projects fails with the error depicted in the attached.  Two questions:

  • Is my conclusion that "Class ID" is a member of Work Hour Templates?  If not, to what is it related?
  • Is there another reason for the failed import?

Thank you in advance...x80040217.PNG

RE: Importing Projects getting error 0X80040217 - culprit believed to be Class ID

    Hi

The error in your image indicates that there's a lookup field on the project entity which references another entity called "BookableResourceCategory" and that you haven't specified this reference in your import rows.

Looking at a design graph for Project Service Automation it seems that Bookable Resource Category is linked to Project Team Member. Do you have any project team members part of your project import rows? If so, can you see the Bookable Resouce Category field there?

You might also receive errors during import if you have a plugin registered to the create step of project or any of its related entities that are automatically created when creating projects and said plugin expects to find a value in the resource category. If you have a plugin like this you might want to look up the business logic for it and see if there's any fields that are is implicitly mandatory.
