Business Central Table field default value in the SQL

Hi,

I am developing a BC extension and I have added some tables and fields.

I have published the extension correctly and I have seen in the SQL that the values that I add have no "Default Value or Binding" defined in the SQL but Business Central standard fields do have it.

The system works as expected, I have not been able to see how this affects but this is something that is bugging me.

Standard table: Item

My table definition:

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Does this happen in production environments?

Does anybody know why this happens?

Kind regards,

I have the same question (0)

It depends on the datatype. Your first example is a field of type 'Code'. I'm not sure what the (N") stands for but in BC Code type fields are always uppercase, maybe that's what the default value means.

Your own example is an integer type field, and I suppose that does not need a value in that property on SQL Server.

Don't worry about it though, let BC take care of that

    Thanks Daniel,

I have checked and added a new image to the post where a standard int field shows a 0 default value for int (it's the same for all the fields I have checked).

In SQL N means nvarchar datatype and the default value is '' (empty string different from null).

You are right that BC takes care of that correctly, but it is starnge as I try to define fields as BC does and the result is different.

    Kind regards,
