Lookup field is locked

Hi Folks,

A user in opportunity form is not able to see the records in look up it is displaying  as "******"

While system admin can see the records and add.

Some days back I had a requirement to disable the +  button in look so no any user can add the record but he can see the record 
so i removed the create privillege of all security roles except system admin.

Please suggest

    Hi

    You have applied Field Level Security for this field.

    Modify the Field Security profile so that the user can see the field value.
