Custom Icons don't repeat on site map if entity appears twice

Posted on by 10

Hi there,

I have a scenario where a custom entity appears on the site map in one "Area" and then it appears again on another "Area" in the system on the site map. I have given this entity a custom icon (so it isn't just the default jigsaw piece) and I can see this custom icon on the first area, but if I change to the second area it appears in, the icon is still the default jigsaw piece.

If I go into the app designer, and go to the "area" where it isn't showing up, I can see that it is still actually selected correctly, just like it is on the Area where the icon does show correctly, however it doesn't change and remains the default "custom" one.

Is this just a glitch? Or is it simply that you cannot have a custom entity with a custom icon appear more than once in the site map with it still using that custom icon? Seems like a bit of an oversight if that is the case, as you can have system entities appear in different Areas on the site map multiple times and keep their icons.

Does anyone know of a way around this, or if Microsoft can get a fix for it?
