LookUp filed by customer number

Hi Everyone. I am new in crm and was hoping you can help me.
I have the following question:

In my custom entity I have a lookup filed connected with accounts entity. I want to be able to connect my custom entity with accounts entity using by account number rather than account name which comes up as default when I search in look up field.

    Hi,

    Out of the box always lookup will show the name , you can not change this behavior. You could add additional columns like account number in the lookup view of the account entity ,doing this you can see account number in the lookup list. Watch below video -

    As suggested above, you can't. Lookup will always display the name field. You can configure view though.
