Dexterity Training Exercises for GP 9.0--Bug on Customer Maintenance Project?

Hello:

Has anyone ever attempted the Dexterity programming training exercises for GP 9.0 and, specifically, page 67 of the second PDF for "DEXBAS"?  This is the Customer Maintenance window creation exercise.

No matter what I do, I cannot get the "Open Item" radio button for Account Type to appear in Test Mode or Preview.  And, the tab sequence skips over the "Balance Forward" radio button.

I have read the instructions to the letter and have reviewed tab sequence instructions online, about a dozen times.

Still, the "Open Item" radio button will not appear in Test Mode or Preview.  (It's making for a really festive Sunday afternoon of learning, let me tell ya!)

Any ideas?

Thanks!  Much appreciated!

John

okey this usually happen with new dexterity developers. :-)

Don't be hopeless and keep trying.

Do one thing remove the radio group and it's radio buttons from window (if you already added a code save them in notepad). After removing fields close window and save the changes.

Then reopen it and then drag and drop the radio group only. Now then ad radio button on by one and drop them inside the radio group. save and check it they are appearing nor not. If appearing then add the code.

    Hi Almas:

My apologies, for the delayed response.  I've been very busy.

I'm afraid this still is not working.  It's very strange.  The instructions by you and the training guide are very clear.  I just wonder if it's a bug or something along those lines.

Thanks for the quick response, by the way.

John, no it's not a bug for sure, these small things troubled a lot to new dexterity developers, tab sequence, radio group, link format, and scrolling window are few of them. If you can upload your dictionary on anyplace like dropbox  or any other place I can check your issue. And sir I also appreciate your acknowledgment. : )

    Hi John,

I just taught this class, and can tell you to not feel alone, the radio group is an item everyone has trouble with. It's the combo of radio group, radio button and the order in which you do it.

The method we used in class is to move the buttons outside the group and then set the tab sequence. The final step is to move the radio buttons back inside the radio group. If you're interested, I'd be happy to do a live streaming with you to see if we could get it top work.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Almas:

My dictionary is pretty small.  Do you have an e-mail address to where I can send it?

    John,

You are doing a good job and everything I found is right. The only issue I saw is that you forgot to set a static value for Open Item radio button, otherwise it is appearing on your radio group very fine. I have just added it and sending back you, your dictionary. Regarding tab sequence, if you will check any existing form in dynamics.dic  dictionary, you can see that in setting tab sequence it only focus on first radio button of radio group, for example you can see this in Service Call billing window.
