With GP 2013 Word Templates, when you modify a template and go to save it, can it be saved in Word2013.docx format?

When I go to create a new template for RM Statement Long Form and click Modify all I get is a blank Word blank document telling me to read the manual on how create a template. When I do the same thing with SOP Blank Invoice From I get a Word Template document waiting to be modified. Is there no template for RM Statements and I need to start from scratch?

The only statement which can be emailed is the RM Statement On Blank Paper and is the only one with a default template.

Forgot to say, when I modify a statement template it is coming off as a docx.

These templates have proven to be too troublesome. We are going to suggest th Binary Stream eMail Manager.

Looks like my post may be a bit late, but I had a similar issue with a client and had to format in Office 2010. Then rolled it out to the Office 2013 machine. But these templates cam be a handfull...

I am going to take a class on Word Templates so I can add another shingle on the door. (Right next to the Gone Fishin' sign). The client was not going to pay $4K + to be able to print invoices. I have always used the Binary Stream solution as it works very well. Especially since they will be able to first produce a list of potential invoices to email and then uncheck those that do not need to go. I find it very odd that you given the option of sending PDF's but the option does not work. I appreciate everyone's input. You folks are the best!!!!

At one point with GP 2010 there was a command line template generator tool that would create a crude version of the RW report you wanted to use as a template. Once created, as long as the modified version of the RW report contains the fields you want to use simply drag them on the template design surface. You will have to format the template yourself so it looks good - add a logo, etc. but it should work.

Does this command line generator exist for GP 2013? If so, where do I find it? If not, I would have to downgrade my GP 2013 report to GP 2010. Where would I find the GP 2010 version of the commna llne generator?

If you haven't explored it already, I would take a serious look at Accountable's Forms Printer product. The product is easy to setup and use, development time is much faster (uses Crystal Reports and SQL Reporting Services, much faster than the Report Writer > Word with Word Forms) and their support is fantastic.

We just went with the Binary Stram email solution. Problem was solved almost immediately. No templates just a little setup work and then click who gets what.
