Software requirements for SSIS package development

Posted on by 570

Hi,

In my CRM 365 online project, i need to migrate data from Excel sheets. I am planning to use SSIS with Kingswaysoft.

What are all the softwares that are required to Install SSIS.

I just need one time migration, no need of scheduling the package or deployments.

Softwares required for SSIS development?

Thanks

Krishna

    Hi Goutam,

    Thanks for your reply!

"BTW why you are going to use data migration if you have excel data? You can use configuration migration tool inside SDK , also you can use bulk  import as well."

I have to import few thousands of contact records in different excel sheets. I need to insert few of them and update some of them in CRM.

Also they have some N:N relationships exists. Not only contacts i have to import data of around 10 entities. so wanted to do with SSIS.

'Bulk import', do you mean CRM data import?. As there are many record update scenarios it is difficult to do it manual comparision. Also this needs to be done in 2 other environments.

As per my knowledge here is your answers -

Can we install SSDT(SSIS) without SQL Server?

You can but you have to download the SQL server to install only SSIS as well, so its better to install complete setup SQL server with SSIS.

    check this - docs.microsoft.com/.../install-integration-services

You can install & use SSDT (BI) without  Visual Studio installed. If no VS is installed, then the free "Visual Studio - Integrated Shell" will be installed. You can get it here-

    docs.microsoft.com/.../download-sql-server-data-tools-ssdt

You can get more than 2 months trial , check here -

    www.microsoft.com/.../sql-server-downloads

BTW why you are going to use data migration if you have excel data? You can use configuration migration tool inside SDK , also you can use bulk  import as well.

    Hi Goutam,

    Thanks for your reply!

I have already seen those but didn't understand clearly.

Basically what i want to Know is,

Can we install SSDT(SSIS) without SQL Server?

    Also SSDT without Visual Studio.

My client side, they don't have licences for any softwares, so to develop SSIS package and to one-time data migration what are all the licences i have to buy.

If SQL Server is required, are there any trail instances of SQL servers can I use for 2months development?
