Quantity Shortage Window in SOP

Hello,

I was just wondering if there is ANY way to have the Quantity Shortage Window NOT pop up when entering items manually. Reason being is my company uses a different software for inventory stock and because of that all of our "inventory" in GP is set to 0 so we get that pop up window on a regular basis. Just wondering if there is a way to not have it pop up.

Yes, it can be done through dexterity customization.

Edited to add : actually window wouldn't stop from popping, but it actually will be automated through customization to get the select QTY shortage option and get back to SOP window, but since this will be done so quickly that user will think window is not popping. So in this way we are not changing any of GP default behavior.

Hi,

Yes, you can get it to stop if you do not allocate by line item. This is determined by the SOP document type. The catch is you cannot 'change' the allocation setting if you have any documents outstanding with the old SOP type. What you may have to do is create a new document type and do not allocate by line item. Eventually you will have to allocate - but you can do that later in mass.

Hi,

You could accomplish this by navigating to Tools - Setup - System - Registration: Then unmark Inventory Control

To understand the affects of doing this, please read the below KB:

Of course, before making such a change, fully test this in a TEST environment.

If that isn't an option, you could setup all of your items as "Service" items.

These are the windows where you specify Allocation Method. Do not select Line Item and the Shortage box will not pop up.

These windows are accessed Sales>Setup>Sales Order Processing>Sales Document Setup button
