Server Side Synchronization - what is considered a "Mass Email Marketing Campaign

(0) ShareShare

The following technet article describes "Mass Email Marketing Campaigns" as not being supported in Server Side Synchronization.

At what number of emails (and any other criteria) is a campaign considered to be a mass email marketing campaign?  I am trying to help my clients with this question but am not finding any specifics.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ian

I had a support ticket with Microsoft on that issue not too long ago, and it seems like even they (Microsoft Support) don't have an exact criteria for that. We discussed that our client sends a couple thousand emails a week, and they could not say if that was mass email or not.

I did send Mass Emails of a few thousand users, but not sure what your target marketing list looks like...

Thank you Aric, my client may need to send up to 10,000 emails for a single campaign.

It sounds like there is not a definitive answer out there.

The rule of thumb for mass emails is "would a person receiving it expect to be able to unsubscribe from it?"

And yes, 10,000 DEFINITELY counts as mass email.

Also, the secondary question is "would this get my email server blacklisted for spam?"  If you think the answer might even possibly be yes, it's mass email and should go through a third party like ClickDimensions.
