Tracking incoming and outgoing email automatically

I would like to ask if anyone has done this before and how it was accomplished.

I can get Dynamics to track incoming email from leads, contacts, and accounts automatically. The replies are these emails can be tracked automatically if outlook is running and it's set, in the outlook for CRM diagnostic tool, to do automatic email tagging.

What I can't get CRM to do is track all outgoing emails automatically sent from outlook that are sent to contacts, leads, and accounts. Obviously my users can click the button to track or set regarding, but we are more interested in this bring automated.

My ideal scenario is that emails sent from outlook to a CRM contact etc should automatically be tracked...regardless of whether the user clicked track or set regarding. Incoming emails from CRM contacts should also be tracked without user intervention. Finally email received from or sent to contacts not in CRM should not be tracked.

Can CRM do this out of the box? If not, what kind of customization would be needed? If it means a custom plugin written in visual studio I'm ok with that.

Our environment is CRM 2015 on prem, server side sync with exchange 2013.

There is an app called Liid that does exactly this. All incoming/outgoing emails are tracked under the right lead, contact or account automatically. https://liid.com

Did you ever get a viable option to do this?  We are also using SSS and would like to automatically track all Outgoing emails in CRM like SSS does with incoming emails.

For dynamics CRM online (and I suspect something similar to other versions)

I go to setting> email configuration > Email Configuration Settings

Under heading "Configure default synchronization method" select

Server Profile : Microsoft Exchange Online
Incoming Email : Server-side synchronization or email router
Outgoing Email : Server-side synchronization or email router
Appointments, Contacts, and Tasks : Server-side synchronization

Under heading "Configure folder-level tracking and email correlation" select

Use folder-level tracking for Exchange folders (server-side synchronization must be enabled)
Use correlation to track email conversations

Also, made sure the users email is approved by going to

Settings > security > users > select user and on top select approve email.

After doing this I still cant track outgoing emails. All incoming emails are tracked automatically. Any idea? Currently if an outgoing email needs to be tracked the user has to manually link it using the new outlook app.

Did you get a solution for auto-tracking all outgoing emails?

    Thanks,

    Leon

At ScienceSoft, we had the same problem some years ago. We tried OOTB tools, but they failed to track outbound emails and emails that Outlook automatically redirected from the Inbox to custom folders. We created a tool for internal use that solved all the issues. Even though Microsoft released two more tools for email tracking, ours still outdoes them in many aspects. Perhaps, EmailScoop can help you as well. For more information, check this link: www.scnsoft.com/.../emailscoop-tracker.

Certainly! If you're looking for a way to automate the tracking of outgoing emails from Outlook to contacts, leads, and accounts within your CRM system, there are possibilities worth exploring. To gain a deeper understanding of how to achieve this automation and customize your CRM system, I recommend reading the informative article "Outsourcing: Who Does It and Why?" It provides valuable insights into outsourcing and its potential benefits for businesses, including CRM customization.

Within the article, you'll discover how outsourcing can optimize your operations and lead to growth. Additionally, you'll find information on various customization options for CRM systems, such as automating the tracking of outgoing emails. It covers both out-of-the-box capabilities and the potential need for customizations, including the development of custom plugins using tools like Visual Studio.
