We are upgrading our clients from Win 10 to Win 11 pro, they use Microsoft Dynamics NAV after the roll out , we have found that the users that use multiple trays , NAV can only choice default tray if needs another tray receive a pop up i have already tried the registry edit but no change any suggestions would be gratefully received
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

This is a known issue with Win11’s handling of legacy printer drivers used by NAV. NAV relies on the printer driver to expose tray options, and Win11 sometimes hides non-default trays for older drivers.

    Workarounds:
    > Ensure you are using the latest printer drivers certified for Windows 11, preferably PCL6 or PostScript rather than legacy PCL5.
    > In NAV, configure printer settings per report to explicitly select the tray rather than relying on the user prompt.
    > Alternatively, create separate printer instances for each tray and assign them in NAV, bypassing the tray selection pop-up.
    > Direct registry tweaks rarely work on Win11 due to changes in the print spooler and driver architecture.

    Thanks

    Hi

When upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 Pro, Dynamics NAV users often run into issues with printer tray selection. NAV relies heavily on the Windows print driver to expose paper trays, but on Windows 11 many drivers default to “automatic tray selection” and NAV can only pick the default tray
First switch to the original OEM driver (not the universal one), then re-test tray selection via Printer Selections in NAV. If tray mapping is still ignored, it’s a Windows 11 + NAV limitation, and the workaround is to configure trays centrally or use a print middleware.

    Thanks

    hi
We recently upgraded our clients from Windows 10 to Windows 11 Pro. After the rollout, we noticed that Microsoft Dynamics NAV users with multiple printer trays can only print to the default tray, and when another tray is needed, a pop-up appears. Registry edits did not resolve the issue. The recommended workaround is to install the same printer multiple times in Windows, assigning each instance to a different tray, and then configure NAV’s Printer Selections table to point specific reports to the correct printer instance. This approach bypasses the tray limitation and ensures smooth printing from NAV on Windows 11.

Hi, Try posting your question on the Windows 11 forums. I believe the technicians there will give you better advice.

    Thanks.
