Sales Pipeline Not reflecting Qualify Stages that are Lead Records

Hi Everyone,

Did you notice that the Sales Pipeline does not reflect on records that use the Lead to Opportunity process? I tried creating a Lead record and saved it and created an Opportunity record and saved it. Those two are separate entities but both are in Qualify Stage. What I noticed is that only the opportunity record is counted in the pipeline.

Is there a way to have them both reflect in the Sales Pipeline? I was thinking of exporting the chart and try to see if I can utilize two entities on it but if you have any suggestions kindly tell me. Thanks.

    Hi Lawrence,

OOTB charts just show one entity at a time.

If you want more than one entity to show on the same chart you will need XML.

CRMChartGuy is a good place to start looking.  This particular  link shows just what you're looking for & how to get it:

I actually tried to look at this one first but I get a bar chart and not a sales funnel chart. The client kind of wants it to view in pipeline form and since they want to display it like a sales funnel.

You can create own SSRS chart report as per requirement , and integrate with dashboard.

Does this work for CRM Online? My initial knowledge is that SSRS doesn't work for CRM Online. Or is this only true on reports?

    Hi Lawrence,

SSRS reporting still works for Online - you just need to use FetchXML.

Here is the sample code for funnel charts (and others)

Your best bet would be to use Goals, with a little creative thought.

    Some ideas to include:

Add an option set field to Goal entity and use the existing process stage category list to make sure you are always lined up with your BPFs. Add to the Goal form.

Create 1 Goal for Leads (assuming they are always in Qualify stage) and 1 for each stage that Opportunities go through (Qualify, develop, etc). Select the right option in the option set. Create appropriate Goal metrics.

Use rollup queries to filter for only the records linked to a process in the right stage (and status=open as well). Include all records, regardless of owner.

Use "open-ended" dates for the Goals - 1/1/1900 > 31/12/2099 should do the job.

Create a funnel chart for Goals, use Sum of In-Progress (currency) and categorize by Sales Stage. You might need a Top X rule to get the sort order right.

Create a view for "Sales pipeline goals" where Sales Stage (option set) contains data, to ignore all other unrelated goals.

Add the chart to a dashboard using this underlying view. In the "Qualify" bar you will get a total of the Leads goal and the Opps goal as a single figure. All others will only have a value for Opps.

You can extend this to Goals per user if you need to (create them by data import in that case). Obviously it won't have data that is right up to date because of the frequency of Goal calculations.

You could create a custom entity to hold the values, and make this a parent of both Lead and opp entities, and create / update values on these records when they change, but I think this is more engineering than you really need.

    Hi Adam,

Your suggestion is amazing. I hope this works for the client as well.
