Importing data to MS Dynamics GP 10

We have an internal project tracking system that logs work & hours done on projects. Basically there are 3 sets of information I want to import: customers, projects, and project logs (time spent, by whom). I want to cerate invoice for each projects based on time spent. We dont't have license for Integration Manager. We have license for GL, and sales I believe. what is the best way to achieve this?  thank you.

Hi, what you're looking for is advice that can only really be given after your situation has been investigated. Do you have a GP Partner willing / able to advise you?

You don't say if you have Project Accounting or Time and Expense for GP installed. Did you purchase licences under the Business Ready model, or the Module Based Licencing model? How many users do you have?

If you don't have PA installed, you will need to look at how you can analyse the data coming in so that you can report on projects. You might be able to use Anlytical Accounting? Or, depending on the number of projects, maybe you can add some new GL account codes for every project. How will you want to report? Should you set up inventory items for your employees time? Should you use RM or SOP...Do you supply time and materials? Just some ideas...but relevant questions...and a good consultant will be able to steer you in the right direction.

In terms of how best to integrate the data: depending on what modules you have licenced, depending on where the data will end up in GP and depending on your budget, the best integration tool by far is eConnect from the viewpoint of performance, error reporting, error handling etc. (Your partner needs to know what they are doing!!).

Other than that, you are looking at Integration Manager or some custom development in order to get your project data into GP.

If you want, when you get advice on your requirements, send me a PM and I will give it a look over.
