Product price problem in Shopify connector

Good morning,

I have the Business Central Shopify Connector running since release. Works perfectly apart from that i've never been able to sync item prices correctly between BC and Shopify.

Price in Business Central is 5400 ISK w/vat, price displays as 39 ISK in Shopify.

Shopify is set up in ISK, BC is set up in ISK and the connector indicates that the connection is in ISK.

Anybody had this issue and found a solution?

    Good morning,

This issue might be related to how VAT is handled during the synchronization process. Here are a few things you can check:

    1. VAT Inclusion Settings: Ensure that the price synchronization settings in the Shopify Connector are configured to include VAT if that's how your Business Central prices are set.
    2. Currency Formatting: Double-check the currency formatting and decimal precision in both Business Central and Shopify. Sometimes, mismatches in decimal places can cause significant discrepancies.
    3. Price List Mapping: Verify that the correct price list or customer price group is being used for the sync. Misconfigured mappings can lead to incorrect pricing.
    4. Connector Version: Make sure you're using the latest version of the Shopify Connector, as updates often include bug fixes and improvements related to pricing and VAT handling.

If none of these resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft support or checking the connector's documentation for known issues.

    Hope this helps!

I'm also using the Shopify connector and haven’t faced this issue when syncing prices from Business Central to Shopify. It sounds like either VAT or unit of measure settings might be causing the discrepancy. Make sure the “Price Includes VAT” setting is correctly configured in the price list used for Shopify sync, and confirm unit of measure alignment between both systems.

If the issue persists, I recommend raising a ticket in the Yammer/Viva Engage group here: Yammer - Dynamics NAV Dev for more direct help from the Microsoft community.

Product price problem in Shopify connector

    Hi Arnor,

It’s a classic connector quirk that’s tripped up many implementations. You’ve got everything aligned on paper:

    • Shopify and BC both set to ISK
    • Connector confirms ISK as the currency
    • Price in BC is 5400 ISK (including VAT)
    • But Shopify displays it as 39 ISK — clearly off

Here’s what might be happening and how to troubleshoot it:

    Possible Causes & Fixes

    • Price Calculation Logic in Connector
      • The connector uses a temporary sales document (quote) and a temporary customer (Shop Code) to calculate prices. If any partner extension or event subscriber modifies this logic, the header might not be available during sync, causing incorrect price mapping.

    • VAT Misinterpretation
      • Even if your BC price includes VAT, Shopify may interpret it as net depending on how the connector sends the payload. Double-check the “Prices Including VAT” setting on the Shopify Shop Card and Customer Template.

    • Currency Decimal Precision
      • ISK doesn’t use decimal places, but Shopify might still interpret the value incorrectly if the connector sends it with unexpected formatting. Try reviewing the Sales Price List and Item Card to ensure the price is stored and transmitted correctly.

    • Theme or Variant Conflicts in Shopify
      • If the product has variants, Shopify might be displaying the price of the first variant — which could be misconfigured or set to a default low value. Check the variant pricing in Shopify admin.

    Suggested Steps

    • Run Sync in Foreground
      • Disable “Allow Background Syncs” on the Shopify Shop Card and run the sync manually. This will give you error dialogues and access to detailed logs.

    • Enable Logging Mode = All
      • On the Shopify Shop Card, set Logging Mode to “All” to capture request/response pairs. This will help you see exactly what price is being sent to Shopify.

    • Review Shopify Log Entries
      • Go to Shopify Log Entries in BC and inspect the request payload. Look for the price field and see if it matches your expectations.

    • Check Skipped Records
      • Some records may be skipped silently if they don’t meet Shopify’s validation rules. Review the Shopify Skipped Records page to see if your item was partially processed.

    Hello,

Here is some additional information about the prices synchronization:

Synchronize items and inventory - Business Central | Microsoft Docs

Please check if that helps you to understand what system is doing in your case.

Otherwise, please provide your setups (Shop Card, Item Card, Sales Price List) so I can verify your scenario.

    Thank you in advance.
