Current Period shows fixed dates

Hi!
I am trying to set up the sales analasis report and still have a problem with FY(CP) Current period. The current period shows 1/1-31/1 and this date is not changing during time. It has been the same in several months now. I cannot understand this.
Can anyone give me a real adequate clue why it is like this?

(I don't need any links to general sites about BC reporting dates, that is not really helping.)

Thank you @Mansi Soni for a good explanation. However, we don't think that is our problem. We have a broken fiscal year that starts in september. Last closed month in August 2024, and we have open periods until 2028 due to periodizations. What do you think?

    Current Period shows fixed dates
    Hello,

As per my understanding, the issue you're facing with the FY(CP) - Current Period not updating likely stems from the Starting Date defined in your Accounting Periods setup in Business Central. The Current Period used in analysis views or reports like the sales analysis is based on the accounting period defined under Finance > Accounting Periods, not the system date or calendar month.

If your accounting periods haven’t been closed or new ones haven’t been created, Business Central will continue to consider the last defined (and not closed) period as the current one. So, if your January period (1/1–31/1) is the last opened period, the system keeps showing that as the current period.

To fix this, go to Accounting Periods, and ensure all past periods are closed, and new ones are created for the current and future months. Once the current date falls within an open accounting period, FY(CP) will reflect the correct period automatically.

Hope this will help you to resolve your query!

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni

That is not true. We have accounting periods for a couple of years ahead too. (Broken fiscal year)

Is it true that Accounting Periods for this year have not been created? FY takes the value here. If it has not been created, a fixed value will be displayed.

Hope this can give you some hints.
    Thanks.

@RockwithNav Month (M or CM) is not a valid parameter according to this report.

I would like to show period 1 to current. FY (1..CP) But when current period by itself shows january, obviously 1..CP shows 1..January.

I ended up with a same use on Financial Reporting. It wont work that way. if you explicitly define all the months then that will work but for a situation like this what I did and that's something which I saw on standard process as well is to do like CM, CM - 1, CM -2 and so on. Have a look on  some standard finacial Reporting.
