Quality associations and Event blocking

I'm testing quality orders in D365FO and although I successfully block inventory by changing the inventory status I fail to understand what event blocking is meant to do

For example I set up a quality association with an event type Product receipt and event blocking = invoice

I receive my PO quantity and my inventory status is available

I fail the Quality order and the inventory status is blocked

Now I invoice the purchase order, I get a warning "Posting Number : 1534 A quality order that is essential to the process is closed, but it failed to meet the minimum requirements"

My PO is now invoiced

Is the event blocking there to provide a warning only or am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

The event blocking feature will only occur when the quality order is still open. Since it is closed, it's not blocking anything at that point, and serves as a warning.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense reading the warning message

Problem is that the quality order closes when its validated (validated as failed in my case) and only then does it  change the inventory status. to blocked.

So if I leave the quality order open I prevent the PO from being invoiced but my stock is available for anyone to use. Is that how it works?
