Inventory On Hand Physical Reserved incorrect

I have an item that, in the on hand view, shows Qty 15 in the Physical Reserved for a specific location.  There is no open warehouse work for that item, there are no other open inventory transactions for that item and specific location.  We utilize the separate Inventory Transactions and Warehouse transactions feature of Advanced Warehouse.  Running a consistency check does not fix this issue.

While researching, I found two lines in the Warehouse transaction view that I believe caused the issue.  A Work type entry for Qty 15 has the status "Physical Reservation".  A later line, having the same reference, has the type "Physical Reservation Removed" but the Qty is blank (zero).  The warehouse work that is referenced by the transaction is closed.  Using table browser, I see that there is a line for the item and Physical Reserved qty in the table WHSInventReserve.

How can I adjust this quantity, now that the Work and Sales Line are long closed?

In my UAT environment, I removed that quantity (using a runnable class), but when I ran a consistency check, the quantity was restored.

What are my options for fixing this?

    Hi lispyj,

You have done great research already. In case you don't have customizations in this area, I would suggest logging an incident for Microsoft Support.

What exactly did you remove using your runnable class? Have you tried setting a quantity on the removed physical reserved line?

    Thanks for the reply Andre.

Yes, my first try was to just set the entry to 15.  My second try was to delete the entry all together.

I have tried to follow the code to find out what is repopulating the value, but it is a long and tedious process.  I am not completely clear about the data that underlies the new Warehouse Transactions view.  My research just took me in circles :(

I don't believe we have any customization relating to warehouse transactions.  I will see what support has to say.

    Hi lispyj,
I think Andre's advice makes sense.
If you have a chance, it would be better to log an incident for Microsoft Support.

If you would like to try to fix this issue yourself, I can suggest trying this:
If you check the "WHSInventoryTransaction" table, do you see records with "ReferenceCategory" set to "Work" and "ReferenceId" set to your work ID number?
If yes, you can try to find related records in "WHSInventoryItemSetElement" table using the relation WHSInventoryItem.ItemSetId=WHSInventoryTransaction.ItemSetId.

When you find them, you can check the "HandlingQty" field.
I assume it can be zero for the record in the "WHSInventoryTransaction" table with the type "Physical Reservation".
If you set the desired quantity on this record and perform a consistency check, will it solve your problem?

P.S. I believe you are a reasonable person, and if you make these corrections, they will be made in a prod copy/sandbox environment first.

Thank you, Andrey, for the information.  I will take a look at those records.

I will use caution when attempting a fix.

    Just to wrap this up.

I found the error in the WHSWorkInventTrans table.  The record relating to the work task shows a Qty Remaining of 15, when it should be zero.

I was blocked from editing this quantity (even with skipMethods in place) and I was also prevented from removing all transactions for the work task (which would have been my AX 2012 solution).

I had to open a ticket.

i have found this issue is well,

Inventory transactions sums to displayed value but not the stated MS formula which Warehouse transaction does as well as code base, we use availble physical as 3rd party ecom stock updates so this is crucial for us!

Just an update - I still have a Microsoft case open for this one.  It hasn't yet been escalated to anyone who can help.  So far the instructions have been multiple variation of manually remove the reservation, regardless of the notation that the transaction is closed.  I will update if I ever get a resolution.
