Dynamics 365 Business Central Version Upgrade

Hi,
 
We currently have Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises, version 20, installed on our server. Our valid EAP is active until June 2025, which we believe includes services such as version upgrades.

I have a question regarding the upgrade process: The current version has custom packages developed by a third-party company. Will these custom packages be affected if we perform the version upgrade ourselves?

    When upgrading your Business Central version, you must ensure that third-party versions are compatible.
    In the case of SAAS, you will not be able to upgrade the version if the incompatible extensions are not updated.
    To accomplish this task you must have access to the source code of these extensions.

    What are custom packages? Are they extensions? Or are you referring to Configuration Packages?
    If you migrate everything will be updated at a technical level, and you won't lose any data, so you won't lose the configuration packages.
    If you are referring to extensions, these extensions must be compatible with the new version.

    When upgrading Dynamics 365 Business Central from version 20, custom packages developed by third parties might be affected. You need to check the compatibility of the current extension with the new version. You can also ask the third-party company to verify the compatibility of the extension with the new version.
