Management Reporter 2012 Installation Errors

Ok, this is really getting frustrating but here goes.

We are installing Management Reporter 2012 on an existing system - it had MR installed on Friday, then the database was corrupted and so we had no choice be to restart the MR installation.

1. Remove MR from the system

2. Remove the MR Databases from the SQL Server

Re-installation of the MR system on the same server in the same location

When we run the Configure Management Reporter I am able to select the Application Service and Process Services without error.  Then when I try to create the GP Data Mart and the GP Legacy connections, I am able to create the Legacy connection but get a error ( attached below ) that re-occurs on each attempt to create the Data Mart.

Nothing seems to make any difference - I have removed and restored the system many times

I need some assistance to make this work.

The Services are still available related to previous installations made. Due to this you might have got the stored procedure error in Deployment logs and due the installation failure, the Management reporter DM database changed to Single user mode.

Try to delete the databases which are in single user mode form Database server and then Open the configuration Manager and remove both the application and process services and try re configuring again. This solved the same problem for me.

    Thanks !

RE: Management Reporter 2012 Installation Errors

    Hello Bill,

My guess is the database is not being created in single user mode; however, there is an error being encountered during the database creation which then causes MR to try and roll-back the changes by first putting the database into single user mode. MR cannot delete a database from SQL so you will end up seeing the database is still listed after the attempted rollback.

Unfortunately, the screenshot shows a generic error message that states the deployment failed. The Configuration Console can only output a limited amount of information on-screen during a failure, so we will need more information to assist with correcting this problem. The available logging will need to be reviewed as requested earlier. I recommend performing the following:

    1. Verify that the proper system requirements are met for the MR version, SQL version, etc. Refer to www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx.

    2. Restart both MR services to flush any old items from memory.

    3. Restart the Configuration Console to start a new session for logging.

    4. Deploy the data mart only (do not also deploy the legacy at the same time to simplify the information output to logging).

    5. Review the Deployment log for messages on what occurred. You may need to review the whole log and not just the last few lines to find a clue. Unfortunately, you will not be able to copy/paste the entire log to this forum.

    6. Also review the Event Viewer. Look in the Application and System logs. Also, assuming you are using at least CU13, look at the custom MR event sources under Application and Services Logs | Microsoft | Dynamics. There are several "MR-" sources that may have information related to the problem.

    7. Lastly, since you stated there was some database corruption and both databases were removed, I will assume there is noting in the current database. If you continue to have a problem and do not see enough information provided in the logs to assist, you may want to try re-deploying both MR services which will allow you to create a new MR database as well. When deploying the new services, deploy each service one at a time as well as deploying each provider (legacy and data mart) individually so you can more easily identify the specific failure point. This will also hopefully provide more information in the logs. Also, if not using the latest MR version (currently CU16), I recommend installing this version for more available logging that may assist you. You can get this from mbs.microsoft.com/.../MROverview.

    Thanks!

    Hi Bill,

Agree that this sounds rather strange that your SQL server creates the DB in 'single-user' mode .. something must be wrong when creating a new DB.. Have you tried to create a new DB manually ?

PS: check your modeldb database.. every new DB is created based on this one.. if it is in SU mode, then every new one will be too

PPS: check if your SQL Server services wasn't started in single-user mode (-m on the command line)

What information is displaying in the Deployment Log file that is created?

    Thank you,

    Microsoft.

RE: Management Reporter 2012 Installation Errors

Update on this case - the ManagementReporterDM databases that get created each time are created as SINGLE User Access databases and I can change them - but the system will not allow it to be created as anything but Single.

    Is this a clue?
