Unable to void a payment

Posted on by

I applied a payment to a vendor via a credit card.  I voided the paymet on the credit as I paid $0.17 to much.

I also tried to void the payment in the vedor as it was opened and it will not let me void.  I receive the message document can't be marked for voiding as it is partially applied or there is a hold on it.

How may I void the payment, with $0.17 credit now so I may enter the correct payment in the credit card?

Thank you

Renee

You need to first create a "dummy" invoice for the $0.17 and apply the credit to that.  Then you'll be able to void the credit and once that's voided you can then void the "dummy" invoice.

Here's a good blog by Victoria Yudin going through a couple of different scenarios.

I tried to do the dummy invoice, however it will not let me apply any documents to it.  Do I need to post the invoice first; then go back and apply it?

    Thank you

Yes, post the invoice.  Then pull up the credit document in the Apply Payables window and apply the dummy invoice.  Then you can go through the void process.

Radl, once you have the payment / credit memo fully applied - then as Matt describes you can then VOID the payment / credit.

We had the same issue and spent several hours figuring this out.  It works.
