Why won't MSR read s/n off a gift card on RMS Store Operations POS

We set up gift cards for a customer and the msr is not reading the gift card serial number.  Customer is using RMS version 2.0.015, we tested the MSR on the terminal utility and it is reading the data on track 1, but when we swipe the card at the POS it doesn't read it.  I tested on notepad and it doesn't read the card there either.  Any suggestions??

Is it USB? Keyboard Emulation mode? Usually you just plug it into a USB port and it works.

RMS is set up on a Radiant terminal and mag stripe is attached to the terminals motherboard running via OPOS...we know the swipe works because they can run credit cards and when we test the gift card in the terminal utility it reads the card.  When we run the transaction for the cust and the serial box comes up, when we swipe the git card it will not read the serial number.  We're going to try encoding the card in track 2 to see if that helps, but wasn't sure if anyone else has had this problem before.

Sorry, I only use USB mini-swipes so I cannot offer any other suggestions.. They are very simple, no OPOS, no driver - they just work.

The entire character stream should be seen in Notepad as long as the MSR is configured to read from that track. I have found that the serial number needs to be in track 2 and the stream should look like this, without the parenthesis. (  ; your serial number = ?). I found that the number would not read in the POS without the = sign in there. Hope this helps.

RMS must enable input on the OPOS Mag device when this field is active in order for this to work, and does not.  Keyboard Wedge emulation is not PCI compliant but does work, so I'm guessing that this will need to be a request for change since it will be required to allow compliance.
