Hi, I'm quite new to Dynamics World
I'm trying to register a plugin on my trial version, but when I try to Create a New Connection from Plugin registration tool I got this error...

Error : get_user_name_failed: Failed to get user name

Hi,

This error usually happens when the Plugin Registration Tool can’t authenticate properly with a trial environment. Please try the following steps

1. Download the latest Plugin Registration Tool
Get it from NuGet (Microsoft.CrmSdk.XrmTooling.PluginRegistrationTool) to ensure you’re using the version that supports the new authentication model.

2. Use the correct connection type
When creating a new connection, select Dataverse (OAuth) instead of the legacy CRM Online/Office 365 option.
Enter your environment URL in this format:
https://<yourorg>.crm.dynamics.com

3. Sign in with MFA (modern login)
Most trial environments enforce MFA. Don’t use username/password directly. Choose the interactive login option so the Microsoft sign-in window appears.

4. Check user permissions
Ensure your login account has the System Administrator security role in the trial org.
