Error in excel report publisher

ReportReport
Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

We are using GP 2015 R2.
I am trying to publish a report in using Excel Report Builder. However, a message pops up that 'You do not have security privileges to publish this report.' What do I need to have IT do to correct this?

Thanks

Mary Ann

    Hi,

I think you can create a schema for the table objects that includes the Create View permission and then grant the user rights to the schema.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi,

I am having the same issue. However, assigning dbowner or sysadmin rights is very problematic when it comes to security. Is there any way to just grant rights to only create views?

The reason for this is still that when an Excel Report is published, it creates a SQL View and the user account needs permissions to be able to create the View in SQL.

In SQL Server Management Studio, under Security > Logins, if you look in the Properties for the non-SA PowerUsers, do they have either the DBOwner or SysAdmin SQL roles assigned to them? If not, try giving the user the DBOwner role and then have them log out and back into Dynamics GP 2010 to see if they can then publish Excel Reports.

    Hi Mary Ann,

I am not sure if a check for the sa user is hard coded into this function. If not the equivalent SQL permissions should allow you to publish reports.

    Regards,

    Kirk
